4 Steps to Navigating Transitions with Mindfulness

Fall is in full swing. The Autumn Equinox has passed, days are getting shorter, and the life the planet has birthed is withering. That sounds dark, but it’s actually making space for what is to come – new life, new growth, new opportunities. As humans, we are so in-tune with nature’s vibrations that we too feel the shift in our personal lives. A lot of our clients and gems in our community have expressed that they too are trying to regain footing in their relationships, career paths, and efforts to experience personal fulfillment. So, we thought it best to share some tips on how to get clear and intentional during a time that can feel scary and unsure.

1.     Choose how you want to show up

Give yourself a break and know it’s okay not to have all the answers right now. You don’t need to see all the details to grasp the big picture. You are embarking on something new and you have the choice as to how you will handle that. Instead of beating yourself up for not having everything figured out, how would you like to show up during this transitional time? Write this as an “I am” statement you can hold as an intention!

2.     Get clarity

Reflecting on what is shifting for you right now will help you digest what’s happening and understand more clearly where you want to go. Take some time to create quiet in your mind, usually this is best achieved through meditation or connection with nature. Journal on the transition you are experiencing. What are you noticing is changing for you? How does it feel? What are you transitioning into or out of?

3.     Claim what you want

During times of uncertainty and change, you can feel like your life is out of your hands, out of your control. It’s not! You have the power to create your life by shifting your energy to align with what you desire. Transport yourself to 6-months from now, what does your life look like? What have you experienced, released, invited in to get there? How are you feeling? Take some time to visualize and journal that scene. What can you shift now (energy = words, thoughts, actions, attitudes) to live in that space of KNOWING your vision is already in action?

4.     Take action

You have the vision and while holding it is powerful, it must be accompanied by action. Knowing how you want to handle this transition and where you are headed, what steps can you take to get there? Choose one step to put into effect (think small!) and decide when you will do it.  Accountability is the true hero behind action. Find someone, whether a coach, spiritual teacher, or friend who’s on the same journey, to share your action plan and hold you accountable to executing it!
